May 22, 2017 - Corn routs Soda by 9 to retain the Cup
Total domination. That was all that could be said about Corn's overwhelming victory. After taking a 3-1 lead in the morning best ball matches on Thursday, they repeated the score in the afternoon and had a commanding 6 - 2 lead at days end. Fridays morning best ball matches were bettered by Corn with a 4 - 0 victory that clearly identified the rout was on. Soda took some salvage of the day by winning the afternoon matches 2.5 to 1.5 but at days end were down 7 points. Needing only 5 points in Saturdays singles matches to retain the Cup, Corn, led by co-GOTY's Brian 'Iced Tea' Jackson and Gary 'Snuffy' Shaw, was able to garner 4.5 in the morning matches and repeated this in the afternoon matches to win the cup 20.5 to 11.5. The 4-man scramble was also a total domination as the team of Tom 'Yanni' Kniola, Dan 'Kman' Kniola, Brain 'Algae' Allgaier, and Greg 'Otis' Daryl 2 stroke victory was enough to garner the front, back, and overall Nassau.

Scott Anderson Records 1st Hole in One
Scott 'Snatch' Anderson scored his first hole in one ever at Prairie Green golf club on the 147 yard 2nd hole where he claims he used an 8 iron but witnesses thought it was a 3 wood. After such a stellar shot, Snatch proceeded to score a 10 on the par 5 third hole. Arriving at the club house, he found no one at the bar to buy for so it turned out to be a 'perfect' hole in one. Way to go Snatch.

Corn holds onto 4 point lead to take the Cup
Heading out west seemed to suit everyone just fine as the perfect weather met everyone's expectations but ultimately it proved best for the Corn team. After the Thursday morning scrambles matches at We-Ko-Pa ended up at 2 - 2, the Corn team, inspired by newbie Otis (the golfer formerly known as Gman), took a commanding 3 point lead in the afternoon matches that was never relinquished. The following day saw Otis repeat his 2 - 0 tally as Corn extended their lead by a point in the best ball matches at Grayhawk finishing the day with a 10 - 6 result. The final round individual matches at Troon North ended up with both teams posting 8 points, leaving Corn to take home the cup with an 18 to 14 outcome. The day finally saw Otis losing a match but his 5 - 1 record is one of the better results for any newbie at the C&S. Alas though, it was not enough to win the GOTY as Otis learned the tough lesson of partnering well in the 4 man scramble. Seasoned veteran JJ knew this well and led his 4 man scramble team including Tarzan, Snuffy, and Desert Crapper (DC) to victory and coupled with his 3-2-1 record in the C&S matches, was able to edge out Otis and Snuffy by a single point to win the GOTY.

The same foursome played JJ's course the next morning, and afterwards, sans JJ, they headed up the coast to play Plainfield CC, Baltusrol GC, and Winged Foot GC.

Soda holds onto 3 point lead to take the Cup
It was difficult to foresee that the C&S Tournament would take place given that the week saw 2 players drop out to injury the days before the tournament and we had a weather forecast of Biblical proportions of rain and wind. But somehow, all rounds except the practice round were held, and they all took place in relative calm conditions often in bright sun. Soda blanked the Corn team in the afternoon 2 man best ball matches pulling them to a 3 point lead which was maintained in the singles matches which saw both teams winning 7 points. US Open hosts Loos & Olson to Kaymer Pitch & Putt
Original C&S member Bill Loos and newly appointed Executive Committee member Eric Olson attended the US Open on Friday the 13th and witnessed one of the greatest routs in US Open history as Martin Kaymer backed up his opening 65 with a 2nd 65 on Friday, taking his 10 under score into Saturdays round with a 6 stroke lead. Since no cameras or phones were permitted on the course, the only record of their attendance is via the picture to the left with Pinehurst's mascot, the Putter Boy statue.
May 25, 2014 - Palm Springs, CA:
Corn comeback overtakes Soda 19 1/2 - 12 1/2
Contestants participated in extreme heat throughout the event, with the high on Fridays rounds climbing to 108 deg F, but were not deterred. Being 2 down going into the final day of competition with 16 singles matches on the line must have inspired Corn who easily leaped over Soda after the morning rounds taking a commanding 4 point lead and stretched it to 7 by the conclusion of the afternoon matches. In another unexpected turn of events, Scott 'Snatch' Anderson went from last years Duffer to this years Golfer of the Year (GOTY). Snatch, a member of the Corn team, was the big money winner, helping to lead his 4-man scramble team with Dave 'Honer' Hone, Gary 'Snuffy' Shaw and Eric 'E' Olson to a 4-shot victory, and took home first place in the Partner with a Pro contest. Tom 'Yanni' Kniola earned his Big Duffer jacket by edging out John 'Geese' Gieselmann by a 1/2 point and took it all in stride providing the contestants with a memorable speech recounting shot by shot how he came upon his new wardrobe attire at the Tournament Awards Dinner. The event saw the welome return to action by Mike 'Shankapottamus' Brown who somehow managed to get enough shots in the air and putts in the hole to stay out of the running for the Big Duffer award. Brian 'Algae' Allgaier edged out Pete 'Sticks' Stracke for the 2 Buck award by breaking his 6-iron in a pique of anger during the practice round. Roy 'TanMan' Tanner has volunteered to sign Brian up for anger management classes.

May 22, 2013 - Harbor Town, SC:
Corn routs Soda 22 -10
The Corn team came out as hot as the near perfect weather and never looked back with a winning margin for each day of matches. The GOTY went to Dave Hone, newcomer David Bronstein won the long drive competition, Curt Hone won the closest to the pin with a shot to within a foot of the hole, and Gary Shaw won the 2 buck award for feeding the alligator and somehow not losing a finger or hand in the process. Scott Anderson edged out Eric Olson for the Big Duffer jacket. The 4-man scramble championship resulted in a 2 team tie with a score of -7 on a challenging layout played on the front 9 of the Heron Point and the Palmetto Dunes - Jones Course.
