Corn routs Soda 22 -10

The Corn team came out as hot as the near perfect weather and never looked back with a winning margin for each day of matches.  The GOTY went to Dave Hone, newcomer David Bronstein won the long drive competition, Curt Hone won the closest to the pin with a shot to within a foot of the hole, and Gary Shaw won the 2 buck award for feeding the alligator and somehow not losing a finger or hand in the process.  Scott Anderson edged out Eric Olson for the Big Duffer jacket.  The 4-man scramble championship resulted in a 2 team tie with a score of -7 on a challenging layout played on the front 9 of the Heron Point and the Palmetto Dunes - Jones Course.

Overview

South Carolina Set to Welcome C&S in May 2013

Hilton Head Island is delighted to have been selected as the locale for this years tournament.  Hilton Head Mayor Drew Laughlin beamed “What an honor.  It’s exciting to be the host city for this so soon after the tour players came through, and the added revenue will be a boost to our local economy.”  Executive Committee members were dumbfounded by why they had overlooked such an esteemed golfing resort for 28 years but they corrected this as soon as they realized the oversight.

Although the famed Harbour Town golf links tops the list of courses the tournament will play on, the other courses are no push over.

Courses

Ocean Course, Heron Point, Palmetto Dunes - Jones Course, Harbour Town Golf Links

Synopsis

In the largest drubbing ever recorded in C&S history, Corn took it to Soda, overwhelming them by a score of 22 to 10.  In the 2 man team scrambles, Corn, led by golfer of the year Dave Hone,  came out hot, winning the day 6 and 1/2 to 1 and 1/2.  Although the 5 point margin was the largest recorded in the 3 day tournament, Corn kept extending it further by winning the 2 man better ball the next day, and the individual matches on Saturday.
