C&S 1996

The 12th annual event marked the 2nd time a previous C&S venue was selected to host the Cup. The 4 man Scramble Championship had it’s most memorable conclusion to date on its return to “The Lagoon Legend”. Granger’s team won on the 1st hole of sudden death when Jarman rolled in an 18 foot putt for the victory. The sudden death was forced after Bootcheck’s team made a par from hell on the 18th hole to tie. A three way tie was narrowly missed after Fusco’s team failed to make a 12 foot putt on the 18th hole. As always, the matches came down to the final day singles matches with Corn holding a 7.5 to 4.5 point lead. Match play competition through the first 2 days was extremely close. Much to Soda’s surprise, Corn won the Day 3 morning singles matches 5 to 1 and clinch the Cup before the afternoon matches started. It was an extremely sweet win for Corn as they reversed the 5 to 1 pasting they took from Soda in the morning singles matches the previous year, winning the Cup for the 1st time in 4 years, 15 to 9.
