Results

Corn, led by the stellar play of GOTY Dan "Kman" Kniola and rookie sensation Pat "NP" Burns, leapt out to a 2 point lead after the first 9 holes and increased it to a 3 point lead by the end of Thursday's play.  Friday's front 9 matches saw the lead expand by another point but a determined effort by Soda after the storms passed through at Conestoga GC brought the tally back to where the day started from.  Soda continued with better play in Saturday's individual matches, narrowing the gap to 1 point by the end of the front nine.  Corn was able to hold onto the 1 point lead after play completed on the back nine, taking home the C&S Cup.

The 4 man scramble team of Brian "Algae" Allgaier, GOTY Kman, Greg "Otis" Dairl, and Dave "Jack" Nicholson shot a 63 at the Chimera GC and edged out the team of Brian "Iced T" Jackson, Pat "NP" Burns, Eric "E" Olson, and Tom "Ollie" Oliger by 1 stableford point, overcoming the latter team's 10 point eagle on the 2nd hole.

The Duffer was taken down by John "Geese" Gieselmann who returned to C&S after a 4 year hiatus.  The Executive Committee forgot to hold a long drive and closest to the pin contest so there are no winners for them this year.

The Partner with the Pros contest was won by GOTY Kman who selected a north of the border team of Taylor and Hadwin.  Ollie took second place with a Euro team of List and Norlander, and E took 3rd place with the team of Lee and Kim.

Overview

For our 38th annual C&S event, we will make a return trip to Mesquite and Vegas as was done in 2008 with a new wrinkle added as we will be competing in the state of Utah for the first time when we head to the St. George, UT area for Fridays round.  The suggestion to play in the St. George region came from Roy "I Can't Read a Calendar nee' Tanman" Tanner who had intended on playing this year but forgot he had a gig on Saturday.

In a joint press release, Mesquite Mayor Al Litman and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman both expressed their gratitude for our esteemed golf tournament returning to the great state of Nevada making the following statement "We are filled with tremendous pride that our 2 cities were chosen to host the 38th annual Corn and Soda Golf Tournament, and we know the fine people of our cities will do everything they can to make this the most successful tournament they've ever held.".

Vegas bookmakers are awaiting the team selections before setting the odds.  However, it is rumored that last years GOTY, Greg "Otis" Dairl, is the front runner for repeating this year.
