Synopsis

In the Cup’s 1st move out west, the concept of al a carte was introduced as the event was not held at a golf resort.  With the combination of outstanding golf venues, “the famous Vegas strip”, gambling, and sports book wagering, Las Vegas made a strong pitch to become a regular tour stop for the C&S Invitational.  The matches were intense from the very beginning with Soda holding a 3.5 to 2.5 lead on Day 1.  Day 2 found Soda clinging to the same 1 point lead by the end of the rounds.  With the morning singles matches finishing all square, the pressure reached an all-time high entering the final 9 holes.  For the 2nd consecutive year, Corn staged a huge rally and won the final singles matches 4 to 2 to win the Cup 12.5 to 11.5.  Rookie’s Markowski, Cox, and T. Kniola posted an unprecedented combined record of 11-3-4 over the 3 day competition.  Olson became the 1st 7 time winner of the C&S Cup.  After day 1, Matthews had an 8 match unbeaten streak and began talking loudly of becoming the 2nd repeat winner of the “Golfer of the Year (GOTY)”.  However, the talk was short lived as Matthews now enters next year’s cup with a 4 match losing streak.  Oliger once again found his way to the winners circle of the Scramble Championship and became the 1st 5 time winner of the event.  The Vegas sports books brought NCAA March Madness to center stage as all participants enjoyed watching the games on the big screens, wagering, and rooting for their “favorite” teams.
